Do you think it was an inside job?

I love Porcupine Tree, I love Blackfield, I'm a fan of at least a handful of bands he's worked with (DT, Marillion, Opeth) and so on. Thought I'd feel out the Dominici fan population and see what sort of SW love we have going on here.

I look like a total doofus in the pic, but whatever.  (And, btw, the other kid in the picture w/ me is actually VERY briefly in the Blackfield DVD --> we were bombed out of our minds throughout the whole show, and at the very end apparently we stumbled right in front of the camera)

And it was you who got me into Porcupine Tree in the first place, right Amorim? I still remember the first time I listened to In Absentia. Got addicted straight away. I still have to start listening to some Blackfield too. Steven Wilson is what we can call, a musical genious.

Indeed, good music has to be known, so I keep spreading the word.  Grin

Same here I had a friend who was into Porcupine Tree and they played me Deadwing and In Absentia - after those I was hooked. They came to my city last year but for some reason I can't remember I couldn't go that night

Definitely. His recent acoustic set "We Lost The Skyline" = fantastic

I haven't heard Blackfield Sad

Blackfield always makes me think perhaps I am wrong in thinking PT is my favorite band, because Blackfield is so incredible... then I listen to PT and realize no, I was right. It's a vicious circle. Wink

I've seen PT three times and Blackfield once, travelling at least 8 hours roundtrip each time.. and I'll do it again every single time!

The only reason I went to my only Blackfield concert was because of Jordan Rudess and our own VFS. I knew JR was opening, and that gave me some incentive to go, but then VFS told me how awesome it would be and that she would drive and take care of all the major work and my ticket, and so I was set from there. Ended up being an awesome show and one that started me into my love of Steven Wilson.

For the longest time I owned In Absentia and never really got into it. But right around the time of the concert I decided to throw that in and started to really love it. From there I got other Porcupine Tree discs slowly, and once again VFS offered me a ticket to see PT with her in Philly on the FoaBP tour. So I went and was absolutely blown away. After the show I went backstage and was able to meet PT and also Mike Portnoy was there, and there was a very limited number of people back there so it was one of the most awesome hours of my life. Just a lot of casual music chatter with a lot of cool people I admire. Been a hardcore PT fan ever since.

I also saw PT on the Nil Recurring tour in NYC with VFS and it stands as the best sounding live show I've ever seen. I talked to the band again after the show and John Wesley gave me the indication that a lot of people were digging their sound over the past few tours and that their sound guy was excellent.

heh.

here's the cat <---                                        ----> here's the bag

just a matter of time.

But yes, I've thoroughly enjoyed our concert shenanigans in the past and I'm sure the future will find us attending shows in the same city again.

They don't come to England that often so I'm hoping to see them when they next play here. They are up there with Dream Theater in my favourite bands
